You should first seek out the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and many other things will come to you. So waste no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will waste thought for the things of itself. Every day has enough problems for itself. (Matthew 6: 33-34)
In our own day, we are overwhelmed by difficult news like hurricanes and tornadoes and all sorts of natural disasters, and we may wonder where God is in all of this.
We may feel like we are light years away of the reign of Christ as King. But the Kingdom of God is happening now. The Kingdom of God is a process of redeeming and healing the Creation, and we have been called to participate in that great work.
This participation is nothing like the illustration above of teenage boy with his feet up in a comfortable recliner and being served a delicious dessert treat while rooting for “the home team.”
The participation we can experience is nothing like the illustration below which includes Pearl and her sister Blanche. But I do believe that in The Kingdom of God we are told to be like little children in our faith.
“Let the little children come to Me,” said The Great Gardener’s Son. “And do not hinder them, for to those with the faith of a child belongs the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 19: 14)
Personal Note: Chickens have this kind of faith as do most dogs and cats. Chickens spread their wings, ready to receive the Goodness God has for them. Maybe you should try spreading the wings of your heart rather than relaxing with pie and ice cream?!?
