Gates of Pearl and Streets of Gold

Twelve pearls formed the twelve gates. Each gate was a single flawless pearl. The city’s streets were of pure gold, and they were so pure that they looked like transparent glass. (Chicken Ancient Words for Revelation 12: 12)

When Pearl heard all the details about the Heavenly City, she wondered why anyone would ever use a chicken like her to make the gates for a heavenly city. She knew in her heart that The Great Gardener Himself must have designed the city, and that design would have included Pearl Gates just as told in The Ancient Words. So she would allow herself to be a Gate if that was what The Great Gardener desired.

Pearl didn’t have any questions about the streets being made from gold. She had seen plenty of things large and small made of gold. Strangely, she had heard people talking about gold having carrots, but Pearl had carrots in her breakfast salad at least twice a week, and sometimes more often. The carrots were always grated up to make them easier for a chicken like her to eat. She just couldn’t not imagine how those shredded carrots could be used to make a street.

What Pearl could imagine was herself acting as a gate and letting people enter The Heavenly City. She didn’t want to have to turn anyone away, not even the meanest fox or slithery snake. That’s just the heart of kindness and grace that she had been given.
