The Backyard Garden responded to Pearl’s calls of alarm with a shift in atmosphere. Suddenly, it felt as if a storm of immense proportions was ready to dump water to cleanse us of the past and ground us for a new start. 

“We need to decide what we will do with this new course of action,” Pearl told me. “We have to choose our end destination before we know how we will get there.”
