This weekend, Pearl wanted very strongly to work on Chapter 5 of The Gospel According to Matthew.
Honestly, when Pearl wants something very strongly, it’s best to simply go along with her and then help in any way that you can. I know this from experience! When Pearl gets an idea, she begins a single-minded pursuit as if it’s a big fat earthworm.
She wanted to discover at least three main ideas and memorable pictures to go with them. (I’m thinking she will want to do this with other Chapters as well, but we will see how our readers react.)

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5: 3)
These words emphasize the value of humility and dependence on God. Chickens possess both of these qualities.
They realize that they must be humble. There are no rewards that come from puffing themselves up to appear more important than who they really are. Chickens are totally dependent upon their gardener or farmer for their food, shelter and protection.
Their need for a connection to God is always at the center of their journey through each day into which God brings them safely.
Chickens can help you with recognizing that true humility and a need for God are essential to your inheritance from God.
Special Note: I asked Pearl why she wanted to start with Chapter 5 and not Chapter 1. She said that this was the first chapter in The Gospel According to Matthew that specifically spoke to her as a chicken. But she promised to come back to them later to make it a full account. Since this was a Solemn Promise, you can be sure that she will do exactly as she said.
