Pearl thought about the topic of “Prayer” as she recalled the next important words from The Gospel of Matthew in The Ancient Words. Instantly she thought of Amelia because of all the chickens, Amelia always seemed to have the most successful or effective prayers.

“You should pray like this, The Great Gardener’s Son told the people: Our Father who is in heaven, May your name be respected. May Your Kingdom come to us, so that Your Will may be done on Earth, as it is already is in Heaven. Give us today what we need for today to sustain us.. And forgive us what we owe you, as we forgive those who owe us. Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil because the kingdom, and the power, and the glory belong to you forever. Amen.” (Matthew 6: 9-13)

To Pearl, the success of prayers is not dependent upon the words that are spoken or the clucks that are made. An effective prayer is one that comes from the heart. God, our Great Gardener, always hears those prayers in His own heart. Amelia’s clucking always used The Language of the Heart. When she prays, she speaks God’s own language of Love.

I have almost always heard that we need to “pray from our heart,” but I thought this was like praying whatever popped into my head. It all made so much more sense when Pearl explained it all to me the way that chickens understand it! I will need to learn more about this Language of the Heart and share it with you!
