Blanche was the first of my chickens to be buried under the camellias. In the spring when Blanche had left us, they drop their petals as if they were tears as a reminder of the sorrow her leaving had brought to our lives.

The other chickens, and especially Pearl, had been concerned that Blanche would no longer have anyone to watch over her, especially when I was not home or if our home was ever sold and we moved away.

But I knew that whatever concerns our heart concerns the heart of Jesus too. Surely, after carrying her heart to His heavenly home, He had sent an angel to watch over her beautifully feathered body to let her rest peacefully and undisturbed. That’s how it would be for her there under the camellias until it was time for Him to return and make all things new.
