This was posted earlier today on our Substack Newsletter. Since then, readers have expressed their understanding and even prayed for us. We are so very appreciate and are looking forward to sharing good news with everyone soon!

To be honest with our readers, Pearl and I are considering taking a vacation from writing and illustrating. We aren’t going to pick up any writing or drawing tools until after Easter. We will pick them up if it helps to organize our very unorganized home or fits in with what we need to do for ourselves. But beyond that, Pearl has placed a picture in my head that I can’t shake off.
To be honest with our readers, Pearl and I must confess that we’re rethinking just about everything in our lives right now. This might be one of those famous “THE STRAW” moments. (You know, the kind that “broke the camel’s back.”) It’s not due to any person, or any event, or any thing. It’s simply “The Straw.”
We don’t want to alarm anyone. We are simply having a tough time keeping up with everything.
Everywhere there seem to be walls to get over or around. Like with Beehiive, we must enter an emailed Confirmation code for access to our account so we can post. But we can’t get it all done fast enough to be able to log in and get an error message about it being wrong or expired. That right there is a whole big bale of last straws.
For years, I worked and saved for my retirement. Although I never planned on retiring with chickens and writing and illustrating books about chickens, that is where I am. I have to think about what is best for Pearl and for me.
This song caused me (and Pearl) begin thinking about these things.
Thanks for reading and sticking with us!
